MARSHFIELD, Mass. —
Marshfield police are warning residents to inspect their children’s Halloween candy after needles were found in packages of Twizzlers.
Police said Thursday that sewing needles were found in two separate packages of Twizzlers twists that were given to a three-year-old boy.
“This was a night that was supposed to be fun for the children,” said chief Phil Tavares.
The candy was received during trick-or-treating Wednesday night in the Brant Rock Area, police said.
Residents are advised to throw away any Twizzlers and inspect all other Halloween candy.
“Anyone caught giving out candy contaminated with injury-causing substances faces five years in state prison,” Tavares said.
